DPD Overview
DPD is Direct Participatory Democracy. It is a grass roots movement through which people willing to run for office for the purpose of giving citizens a say in the business of their government. Our representative democracy has become nothing more than a republic where individuals raise money to get elected. The money comes from people who want favors from the "elected" selected individual in return. This selling of our government to the highest bidder supports infinite greed, war, health care for profit and many other evil characteristics that benefit the few at the expense of the many.
Democracy comes from the ancient Greece: "The word 'democracy,' as well as the concept it represents, can be traced back to the area surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. The beginnings of democracy can be credited to the Greeks of the sixth century BC. The word comes from two Greek words: demos, meaning 'the people,' and kratein, meaning 'to rule.' These two words are joined together to form democracy, literally meaning 'rule by the people' (Pious)."
Since the conception of the thought it has been bastardized to include rule by rich men leaving out women and slaves. There may be one exception to the usual tyranny in the guise of democracy taking place in the Iroquois Nation of what is now known as the Americas. It was comprised of what is known as the 5 civilized tribes and is said to have been a matriachal society.
As populations have grown and empire nations became vast expanses democracy had become less practical because the logistics of giving every individual willing to participate a say were insurmountable. Now with computer technology and the Internet, this is no longer an excuse; most people who run for office do not want the people to have a say, they want the power and wealth accompanied by leadership, control and rule of the masses. Now comes Ken Driessen. He believes that the majority of people are compassionate, loving and willing to contribute and sacrifice for the good of all. He also believes that servivial of the fittest rolls over to into human edevours and economy; this means that those of financial means willing to lie cheat and steal to climb the social economic ladder are likely to succeed. Only through a collective co-operative effort will the people gain control of their individual lives through participation will they be able to overcome self serving egotistical individuals who cater only to wealth and power.
